Well, another Sasquatch! has come and gone. Every year when we arrive, it seems like we just left the previous year’s festival. But each year brings new music and new experiences no matter how many times you’ve attended or which acts you may have seen perform before. With its incredible panoramic views of the Columbia River gorge behind the large main stage, the experience of the Gorge Amphitheater is like none other.
This year, I traveled out with the Red Bull team once again to work with their Sound Select program bands and the Red Bull social media team. I feel so lucky to work with such a great crew of people who do a really good job of making work feel like a whole lot of fun. Over the course of the weekend, I walked what felt like 100 miles and photographed a ton of great bands, editing, delivering, and posting photos all along the way. We managed to squeeze in a lot of fun in between all the running around, making for some long days and late, late nights.
Highlights for me included Jenny Lewis, Future Islands, and Run the Jewels. Just as amazing, and even more in some cases, were every local Seattle band I got the chance to see: VOX MOD, Porter Ray, Grynch, Acapulco Lips, Shaprece, Manatee Commune, Thunderpussy, Odesza, and Father John Misty (whom I suppose we can still call “local”).
Huge thanks to Red Bull for having me out again this year and a big shout out to all of the wonderful bands who work incredibly hard to do what they do, not only at these festivals, but everyday. You’re a true inspiration.
